After a month hiatus I am finally back at it! Being technically homeless and only having one car at the moment it was going to be a little difficult to keep up my weekly AIR routine so I took a month off. I am definitely not fitness obsessed but it was really tough giving up a workout I loved so much, even if it was just for a month. Running and weights are just so boring in comparison!
So if you don’t know what AIR is, it is essentially an aerial fitness class that combines Pilates, Barre, Yoga, and Cardio all into one while using silk hammocks to challenge your balance and core strength. It is not just a Yoga or Acro class (though we do get to play around with the Pose of the Week sometimes.) AIR is filled with planks, burpees, squats, lunges, weights, abs, and so much more. It is one of those classes where 5 minutes in you feel like you’re never going to make it through and then all of a sudden class is over!
Another reason I love AIR is because of the sense of community that the owner Kerri has built within her studio. Every month Kerri will host an “AIR Social” where local vendors set up booths and everyone can gather, enjoy great food and drinks, and even get a chance to win door prices. She is so welcoming, encouraging, and relatable. It is so much easier to get up in the morning and let her kick my ass knowing that I actually enjoy her company!
I encourage anyone who is struggling to stick with a workout routine to try AIR. I have learned that you should never settle for a boring workout. Fitness can and should be fun! I’m so glad to be back but I know I’m probably going to be sore tomorrow.
